Day 1 - Meeting Everyone!

So today was the day that I got all dressed up in uniform and travelled to the city to finally meet the 23 other people who will be embarking on this incredible journey with me! At the start of the day, I was really nervous and kind of scared about what everyone else would be like! Would they be nice? Would they be really smart? Would they like me!? Turns out I had nothing to worry about, everyone was so nice and cool and I've already made some friends! After we had briefly gotten to know each other, we went on a short walk to the French embassy where we had lunch with the ambassador. After this, we went back to the Hyde Park Anzac memorial for a short ceremony where all the scholars were presented with certificates and we were introduced to our tour historian Brad Manera (who was fantastic!). Then, it was time to say our goodbyes to our parents for it was the last time we would see them for two weeks! After all the parents had left we all sat down to play some icebreakers to help us all get to know each other that little bit better. We all then collected our suitcases and other bags and walked across to our hotel; The Hyde Park Inn and were assigned our rooms for the night. After we had all settled into our rooms, we got dressed in some more casual clothes and went to a nice restaurant where we ate a big dinner and socialised with the other kids and teachers. It was such a long day but really fun and I'm really glad we got time to spend with the other scholars before we went on this amazing journey. Unfortunately I don't have much more to write about today but keep your eyes open for more blogs as I'm overseas! Bye!!!
